It is almost a crime to visit Melbourne and not visit the Federation Square, which is also fondly referred to as Fed Square. If you want to spend money, it is entirely up to you as there are free events almost every day of the year.
Take a Stroll in The Parks
Some of the most beautiful parks in Australia are found in Melbourne. The Royal Botanical Gardens is located near the Central Business District of Melbourne, and close by is the idyllic Yarra River. The Royal Botanical Gardens span an area of 38 hectares, and you can plan to spend an entire day by relaxing in the midst of the trees and flowers. The Royal Park is a whopping 180 hectares of land. You can move around using a train or a tram and spend some relaxing hours in the Zoological Gardens. Take some time to take a walk into Treasury Gardens and Fitzroy Gardens, which are almost adjacent to each other.
Take a Walk by the Yarra River
The Yarra River is thought to be the heartthrob of Melbourne and it is truly worth your while to walk on its banks. The riverbank is alive with fishing platforms and areas for picnics. If you are an avid jogger or biker, there are trails located along the river bank. The gorgeous street art and beautiful architecture are very exotic. You have the choice of taking a boat and rowing down the river or getting into one of the crafts and find your way to Herring Island Park, The Royal Botanical Gardens, or Melbourne Park.

Learn the history of the Wurundjeri people, who were the original inhabitants of the land, and the Koorie’s history and culture. Aborigine artists hold exhibitions and there are also various social exhibitions available throughout the year.
